Drivers/Monitors Special Needs Transportation
Y.C.N. Transportation transports children/adults with special needs to various schools and day programs. Drivers/Monitors Special Needs Transportation Responsibilities:
• Driver/Monitor will provide safe transportation of special needs students to and from school
• Driver/Monitor will provide direct/indirect supervision of special needs students while entrusted to your care
• Guarantee the safe loading and unloading of all students
Candidate Training Program and Duties :
Applicant must pass the following:
A valid MA Driver's License for at least 3 years*
An excellent driving record
7D License (Company will assist you in obtaining)
Must bring in Drivers License from RMV (no substitutions)* *Must have with you at time of application
Must pass a physical
Drug & Alcohol Screening (Lab)
C.O.R.I (Criminal History Board)
Company Car (Gas included)
Must be between ages 25-70
Walk in interviews available
25-30 hours per week
Driver/Monitor applicants will spend (2) two days in a classroom at the
- Employee Orientation
- YCN Policy / Procedure
- Sensitivity Training
- Vehicle inspection & maintenance
- Emergency Equipment
- Safety Rules & Regulations
- Wheelchair operations (if applicable)
- Q & A
When an applicant has satisfactorily met all the classroom requirements they will be assigned to a certified trainer for the next (5) five days. (Hands on training)
The Driver/Monitor applicant will:
* Drive the vehicle.
* Operate the company two-way radio.
* Interpret daily schedules & routes.
* Perform daily vehicle circle checks.
* Complete logs, time sheets, other required paperwork.
* Read maps and follow written directions.
* Ask questions - get answers
At the end of this (5) five day period, the trainer must document his/her evaluation of the applicant and submit a recommendation to the management team:
(Sign-off procedure)
* More training is required. (Incomplete course)
* Assign the employee a schedule. (Passed the course)
* Dismiss the applicant. (Terminated)
Within the first (2) weeks of an applicant being hired an operational and/or safety manager will follow - up to insure that all YCN standards are understood and are being met. In essence this is another evaluation period.
All new drivers and monitors are on a probationary period
